Workshop outline:
Dr. Silvio Gutkind is Distinguished Professor and Chair of Pharmacology at the University of California San Diego. Dr Gutkind will lead a discussion based on his experience in setting up collaborations and projects between research labs, clinicians, and companies. Dr. Gutkind is a leader in the field of G-protein coupled receptors and has explored their potential as druggable targets in a variety of diseases, including groundbreaking work on how GPCRs affect the efficacy of anti-tumor immunity. Dr. Gutkind also has a strong commitment to mentorship and will share with workshop participants his experience building collaborations across multiple sectors.

Meeting Room, 2F of CCII Bristol Myers Squibb Building
Speakers:
Hongbo Chi, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA
Santiago Zelenay, Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, UK
Osamu Takeuchi, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University
Workshop theme:
Inflammation, aging & anti-tumor immunity
Workshop outline:
Dr. Hongbo Chi has made key contributions to the study of metabolic control of immune cell differentiation and immune responses. Dr. Santiago Zelenay focuses on the role of inflammation in both promoting and hindering anti-tumor immunity. Dr. Osamu Takeuchi studies the molecular mechanisms of RNA-mediated immune regulation. In this workshop, open to PhD students and postdoctoral fellows, they will present their work and discuss the methods, questions, and challenges of studying immune responses under various conditions of nutritional, inflammatory, senescent and other physiological settings.
